Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria has on Saturday 27 October honoured the former Bank Governor of Sierra Leone, Dr Patrick Saidu Conteh.
According to the citation, Conteh holds an excellent combination of academic and professional qualification, skills and management.
That he is a fellow of both the Sierra Leone and the UK Association of Chartered Accountant with over twenty (20) of progressively responsible working experience both in the private and public sectors
That he has intricate knowledge, skills and experience of banking and the wider financial system at the local, regional and international levels.
“You were credited for leading sustained efforts in various initiatives aimed at turning the low financial inclusion rate in Sierra Leone,” the citation read.
That Conteh’s initiative of the FINTECH Challenge and the establishment of Sierra Leone’s first SandBox framework for incubating innovative digital financial products and services which encouraged both incumbents and start ups to launch out innovative products and service to address the appalling high financial exclusion rate were very laudable.
Conteh was former Deputy Managing Director of Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, former Minister of State, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development of Sierra Leone and until recently Bank Governor of the Central Bank of Sierra Leone.
