The Ethics Committee of the Sierra Leone Football (SLFA) governing body has exonerated one of the leading contestants to assume the mantle of leadership of the SLFA Rodney Michael.
A report from the Ethics Committee stated that after conducting an enquiry against Rodney Michael and six others, they came to the conclusion that there is not enough evidence to sustain the allegations made against the accused persons.
It could be recalled that the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and the Ministry of Sport issued a joint press release on the 15th July 2014 informing the general public about allegations of ‘‘match-fixing and unpatriotic conduct’’ resulting in the indefinite suspension of 10 football officials and players.
This development affected the chances of Rodney Michael (a favourite candidate at the time) to contest then for the SLFA presidency.
At a recent launch of his bid to contest for the position of head of SLFA, Mr. Michael swore to his innocence and explained about his renewed vigour to lead the governing football body of Sierra Leone and his determination to improve football in the country.
He underscored the importance to build the game, saying it will be prudent to tap into young talents.
