Youth Minister Condemns Kush Importation

The Minister of Youth Affairs, Mohamed Orman Bangura has outrightly condemned the importation of Mashmalo which is also known as kush into Sierra Leone.

Making the condemnation, the Minster stated that the dangerous substance is one which is not good for the development of Sierra Leone as a nation and also the youths who are victim of the killer substance.

That the intake of the dangerous substance is of great concern as it continues to damage young people to the point of them not being aware of their actions.

He maintained that those who are into the business of importing the drug into the country are people who do not mean well for the country.

The Minister called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Commissioner of the National Revenue Authority (NRA), the Sierra Leone Ports Authority (SLPA) and other agencies who are involved in manning the borders of Sierra Leone to discourage the importation of kush into the country.

“I am using this opportunity to send a very strong message to the European Ambassador and the British High Commissioner to tell those who are importing mashmalo from UK and Europe to Sierra Leone to stop,” the Minister stated.

He cautioned Sierra Leoneans living in Europe, America and United Kingdom who are importing mashmalo into Sierra Leone to desist from the trade.

He warned that the importation of kush into the country is a crime noting that those who have been arrested will be dealt with according to law.
