The Kingho Mining Company, a subsidiary of the Leone Rock Metal Group has concluded a stakeholders’ meeting with Paramount Chiefs, Chiefdom Speakers, Women leaders and youth leaders of the Port Loko District endorsing Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) as the best supporting mining Company in the country.

 The purpose of this meeting was to give an annual Corporate Update from January to December 2022 which covers operation, mining, processing, export and revenue to government and the communities.

In his presentation during the meeting, the Director- Office of the CEO, Mr. Salim Sillah stated that over the years the company has been doing extremely well especially in the areas of Community Development Action Plan (CDAP), Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) and the Community Development Agreement (CDA) in the country and the company has done payment of US$785,000.00 for CSR and Community Development Project in 2022.

He continued that the Company has employed three thousand, six hundred and sixty-four staff that are well paid at the end of the month and also in fifteen years, the Company will have an additional 6,000 jobs for Sierra Leoneans.

Director Sillah further informed the stakeholders that, recently the Company paid five billion Leones to the Community Development fund in Tonkolili and also the Company has paid total revenue in tax, royalties and licenses of US$18,722,200.00 to the government since it started operation.

He said that has engaged the Government to enable a total investment US $ 25.75 Million for the Port upgrading and reconstruction and US$31.25 million for the Railway line upgrading and reconstruction totaling of US$57 million. The investment will fully upgrade the capacity of rail and port to handle 15 million tons in two years that will enable sharing with other users that will benefit Marampa Mines and potential bauxite mining companies emanating in Northern Sierra Leone. This will quickly improve bulk commodity export from the country generating badly needed revenue.

He further explained that the Company is currently paying rent on time, and in additional to CSR, and CDAP projects in excess of 11.7 billion Leones annually.

In his statement, the Community Manager in Pepel, Mr. Mohamed Turay said that the Company has been investing huge amount of money in host communities and that as long as the Company continue to exist in these areas there will be continued benefit and facilities.

Representing the Regent Chief of Bakeh-Loko, the Chiefdom Speaker, Mr. Malie Kamara thanked Kingho Mining Company for their huge investments comparing what Leone Rock Metal Group.of companies has done in 2 years it’s operation was not achieved in 10 years of African Minerals and Shandong companies in 10 years of their operation.

The Chiefdom Speaker said that they have been seeing the huge support of the Company in the country in education, health and sanitation and especially support to women and recently in the One Nation Football Tournament that is ongoing.

In his statement, the host Regent Paramount Chief of Kamasondo, thanked LRMG for their tremendous support in the chiefdom, adding that since the inception, the Company has been doing extremely well with their CDAP and CDA projects.

The regent PC Kamasondo said, as chiefdom, they are also aware of the ARISE company that wanted to take over the Rail and Port, which the government really need to look into considering the tremendous transformation LRMG has made within a very short time.

‘We want the government to look into this issue with a serious thought and allows Kingho Mining to continue the investment on the Rail and Port”, he stated.

The program was well attended by the Paramount Chief of Safroko Limba, PC Alimamy Dura 111, Paramount Chief of Gbanti Chiefdom, Paramount Chief of Makarie Chiefdom, Paramount Chief of Maforki Chiefdom and Regent Paramount Chief of Romende Chiefdom among others.
